Pre-Spring 2027
For Pre-Spring 2027, 3.1 Phillip Lim turns its attention to the quiet act of cultivation. Inspired by the idea of gardening not simply as a pastime, but as a way of tending to the things that shape our lives, Head of Design, Michelle Rhee imagines a woman who is building, curating, and planting the seeds for what comes next.

Drawing inspiration from the eclectic world of 20th-century gardening culture, the collection explores the interplay between practicality and personal expression. Utilitarian workwear details, garden aprons, and functional pockets are layered with tartan shirting, striped knits, crisp poplins, and airy organza. The result is a wardrobe that feels both purposeful and unexpected, balancing polish with a sense of ease.
“We started with the idea of the gardener: someone who is constantly curating, working, and nurturing the things that matter most to her,” says Rhee. “I was drawn to the contrast we found in English gardening culture: tweeds and plaids paired with functional rainwear; elegance mixed with practicality. There’s something very modern about that balance of beauty and function.”
At the heart of the collection is a study in juxtaposition. A striped knit top in vibrant yellow is paired with a tartan poplin wrap skirt, embracing a confident sense of clash, while an organza t-shirt dress layered over poplin introduces transparency and lightness to an otherwise utilitarian silhouette. Throughout, practical details are elevated through material contrasts, creating pieces that feel intentional, versatile, and distinctly 3.1 Phillip Lim.
Pre-Spring 2027 is a wardrobe for those in the midst of building something meaningful, celebrating the beauty found in both the work and the growth that follows.
